Cassia aka Cinnamomum Cassia is made from the dried inner bark of the evergreen tree. It is a powerful treatment for the hair and scalp.
Cassia oil offers several benefits for hair care:
Hydration: Cassia oil’s nourishing properties make it an excellent choice for dry and brittle hair. It can be used in a hydrating hair mask by blending it with a carrier oil and applying it for a deep conditioning treatment.
Frizz Control: Incorporating cassia oil into your hair care routine can help manage frizz, leaving your hair smoother and more manageable.
Scalp Health: Cassia oil has antimicrobial properties that can help soothe the scalp, reducing irritation and promoting a healthier scalp environment.
Strengthening: The oil can help strengthen hair roots, reducing hair fall and promoting overall hair health.
Mix cassia oil with flaxseed oil for a powerful anti-frizz styler.
Cassia oil is typically reddish-brown to golden yellow. It has a strong, spicy aroma similar to cinnamon. It is warming and soothing. Cinnamomum cassia is related to cinnamon, but they are different. Be sure your bottle says Cinnamomum Cassia oil.

1. Webbing: Hair strands sticking together when being separated. The strands stick together forming a webbing effect. This causes tangles and makes your style frizzy.
"Try separating a small section of your hair. Does the hair stick together?"
2. Peel apart affect: When your hair separates easily with no resistance, from the tips to the roots. When there is no resistance your twist outs do not have a lot of frizz and you have more curl definition.
The Crescendo Twist out methods help you create this awesome pull apart effect. Read about it here Read about it here.
3. Oil therapy: Using oils that are specific to your hair needs. Applying them 3 times a week, followed by 10-minute scalp massages.

How to cleanse your hair without using shampoo. God created our hair to withstand exposure to the elements. Thus your hair can take being washed frequently, without becoming damaged. Hair, skin and nails are made up of the keratin. We do not think twice about washing our body daily. Yet the average black woman thinks that washing Afro hair to often, will damage it. Some act as though, Afro hair is so delicate that it cannot withstand much manipulation.
Cleansing the hair does not harm it. Cleansing it with the wrong shampoo or cleanser is what causes damage. Not conditioning well after we cleanse, also causes damage. Not the washing by itself. It is important to cleanse your hair at least twice a week. This will rid the hair of germs, viruses and fungi. Hair grows best on a clean scalp. NON SHAMPOO OPTIONSAlthough there are many non-sulfate shampoos on the market. Some people are not fond of shampoo. You do have other choices. Here are some of the natural cleansers I recommend to replace your traditional shampoo.
Clay: I recommend bentonite clay or red clay. It is best to use them together. But you can also use them separately. If your hair is prone to excessive knots, tangles and dryness. Replacing your shampoo with clay is the way to go. Clay cleanses, conditions and defines your coils in one step. For a DIY clay recipe and full information about clay, go HERE.
Hibiscus powder Hibiscus is a gentle cleanser. If you use gel, grease or heavy oils, this might not cleanse enough for you. Add some spring or distilled water to pure hibiscus powder. Add a little at a time. You want to create a paste. Rinse your hair under warm water for 30 seconds. Apply hibiscus paste to scalp and gently massage. Smooth the paste over each hair strand. Cover with a plastic cap for 10 minutes. Rinse well with med temp water. Continue with deep conditioning. Do not use on blonde or light color hair. It might change the color.
Soapwarts This one is great for dandruff and itchy scalp. It is also a gentle cleanser. It is a natural cleanser that suds. But it is not harsh like bar soaps. It has a light earthy smell. Buy it in a powder form. Create a paste with distilled water. Wash hair with it and follow with deep conditioning. Find it at health food stores or HERE. Black soap This is an excellent all natural cleanser for the whole body. It softens, cleanses and conditions the hair, amazingly. It is cheap and long lasting. Be sure to buy only authentic black soap. MORE INFO HERE
1. Products with harsh cheap ingredients: Using products which contain a lot of unnatural ingredients will lead to allergic reactions on your scalp. Lots of times they are shuttle and many times the product causing the issue is overlooked. This can happen with a product you have used for years. It is best to choose products which have more natural ingredients, such as plant extracts, natural oils and butters. Stay away from cheap brands like: Aussie Moist, Dove, Pantene, Organix, African Pride and others like them. GREAT LEAVE IN CONDITIONERS FOR EXTRA DRY HAIR 2. Overuse of products Whatever you apply on your hair will also seep onto the scalp. Be choosy with the products you use, which you leave on your hair all day. Just because your have Afro hair does not mean you have to use half the jar in one application. More product does not always make your hair style better. Many times it leaves a build up on the scalp, which irritates the scalp after a few days. Start using half the amount of product. Start small and smooth more. Your hair might look like it has soaked up the product but it has not. The majority of products do not penetrate the hair strands. They are cosmetic and sit on top.
3. Not cleansing enough Lots of women have clogged hair follicles which lead to their slow hair growth. Most times the slow hair growth is attributed to genetics. Daily your hair collects: germs, dirt, bacteria, dust, products and more. Your hair is getting dirty the same way your body is getting dirty, throughout the day. You wash your body then ignore the hair. That must stop. Your dry itchy scalp is begging to be cleansed. Wash your hair with a non sulfate shampoo twice a week. HOW TO SHAMPOO AFRO HAIR EFFECTIVELY 4. Fungus This is a top reason for hair loss and slow hair growth. If your scalp is itchy, scaly, dry skin buildup then you could have a fungus issue. The only way to know is to visit your dermatologist. You can also use a product that contains sulfur and see if your scalp starts to heal. If it does then there was a good chance your issue is fungus related. LEARN MORE ABOUT YOUR SCALP AND FUNGUS HERE 5. Low sebum production We are always producing sebum from our hair follicles if they are still open. Sebum is the waxy oily substance that is secreted from our hair roots. Sebum conditions the hair and keeps it growing at it optimum speed. Sebum is why your face becomes oily. Some people produce more sebum than others. Our sebum production depends on our individual health. When your sebum is low then your scalp can become itchy due to low lubrication. A balanced healthy diet which includes 64 ounces of water daily will help you maintain great sebum production. Oil massages with good oils for ten minutes everyday, will also help with low sebum production.
It is a super oil because it is high in vitamin E. beta carotene and lycopene.
Perfect for locking in moisture due to it richness.
Is red palm oil the same as palm kernel oil?
No it is from the same fruit, but from a different part of the fruit. Red palm oil is from the pulp or meat of the palm fruit. It's a red orange color. Palm kernel oil is made from the seed which is left over after you eat the pulp. The seed is mechanically squeezed and it makes a clear oil. Palm kernel oil has less nutritional benefits. It has a longer shelf life and is much cheaper in price than the red palm oil.
I am recommending organic red palm oil for the hair. So be mindful of what you pick up in the grocery store. The color of each oil is distinctly different. Use a little bit to lock in moisture as you finish off your shampoo regimen.
Melts and spreads easily When you put it on your hands it melts quickly. Although lots of people love to whip their Shea butter, it is not necessary to whip it in order to use it. If your Shea butter does not melt or spread easily then it is not pure Shea butter. In the states a lot of the Shea butter is mixed with other butters. Pay attention to the label when you are choosing your products. I have seen Shea butter labeled as "African butter" this means you are not getting 100% Shea butter. You are purchasing other cheaper African butters, which may still be good, but very misleading. You deserve to have what you thought you were paying for. Shea butter is full of vitamins A & E, proteins, minerals and fatty acids. Shea butter is an excellent emollient and it helps to keep moisture from leaving your skin and hair. It is breathable, protects the hair and is a great detangler. Shea butter prevent wrinkles, anti inflammatory and protects the skin from UV aggressors. But you only receive these benefits from good quality grade A Shea butter.
Stay away from the golden yellow Shea butter or pure white Shea butter. I have purchased Shea butter since the 80's and it was always a cream, off white color, or pale yellow in color. When you come across that bright yellow Shea butter it has been mixed with something to brighten the color. Some makers think that the golden yellow color makes it more appealing to the consumer. Just understand that butter is most likely not pure. If it is white or bright yellow it is mostly refined Shea butter. Refined Shea butter has gone through an intense heat process and will contain solvent residues. It is many times odorless and has other chemicals in it to prolong the shelf life. Purchase unrefined, grade A Shea butter Unrefined means it has not been treated with high heat. Heat destroys many of the plant nutrients. Shea butter is a food first, so it feeds the hair roots awesome nutrients, which help to keep your hair healthy. But when you purchase the refined butter you will not get all those nutrient benefits. You will still have the lubricant benefits of the butter but that is all. Shea butter greatly benefits those with Afro curly coily hair. But invest in a good quality butter to reap the benefits. If Shea Butter has not wowed you then most likely you have never used a good quality rich Shea Butter.

Let's learn more about this fabulous natural sister!
CoilyQueensRock: Toni you are natural, right?
Toni: Yes, I am 100% natural since 2007.
CQR: What prompted you to go natural?
Toni:After deciding not to relax my hair anymore I decided to try
braids. I fell in love with braided styles and experimented with box
braids, microbraids, curly braids, human hair braids, cornrows, you name
it...I tried it. I wore braids for about 2 years straight. When I
decided to give the braids a break I was shocked at the thick head of
natural afro textured hair I had grown and fell in love with my new
found texture.
CQR: What has been your biggest challenge being natural?
Toni:I really don't have much challenges being natural especially now that
there are so many more options available for us in terms of both
products and styling.
CQR: What has been your biggest reward from being natural?
Toni:My biggest reward is definitely the platform I've built online and
being able to inspire thousands of women to rock the hair they were born
with and letting little girls know that they are beautiful just the way
they are.
CQR: Do you have specific natural hair goals?
Toni:My hair goals really haven't changed since going natural. Relaxed or
natural my goals have always been to have a head full of healthy hair
and to have fun with my styles.
CQR: I have enjoyed subscribing to you on youtube for over a year, it seems. How long have you been on youtube?
Toni:I've happily been making videos on YouTube for about 5 years now.
CQR: How long have you had a passion for designing earrings?
Toni:When I fell in love with being natural I really wanted to be able to
express that through my clothing and accessories as most naturals do. I
started purchasing natural hair t-shirts but what I really wanted a pair
of afro pick earrings. Back in '07 there wasn't the market that there
was now and I just honestly couldn't find any...so I decided to make
them and that's how I got started.
CQR: Your Toni Wig and Gabe wig is on point and fabulous. What inspired you to start designing wigs?
Toni: I've always been a fan of extensions, particularly half wigs when I
was relaxed. That didn't change when I went natural but it did become
harder to find half wigs that blended with my own natural hair. I
always tend to think that if it's a problem for me, it must be a problem
for other women out there so I decided to create my own and introduce
them onto my site. I started with the Toni wig which mimics my own 4c
hair. After that I collaborated with one of my favourite YouTubers
Gabrielleof TheGabeFix to create a wig which mimics her infamous twist
outs on 4b hair. I introduced a new style 3 months ago called 'The Big
Chop' wig which is a short natural hair wig in the popular tapered cut
style. I hope to have new styles in the future as well.
CQR: Can we expect any new wig designs in the near future?
Toni:I introduced a new style 3 months ago called 'The Big Chop' wig which is a short natural hair wig in the popular tapered cut
style. I hope to have new styles in the future as well.
CQR: I love your earrings and accessories. What can we expect from ToniDaley.com for this Fall or next Spring?
Toni:I'm an artist at heart and love to create so you can always be on the
look out for new designs on my site! This fall you can expect new
artwork, earring designs, and wig colour options!
