The right oils can make your hair grow and thrive

Many years ago I discovered  the importance of the hair thriving from daily oil therapy. Not just any oils, but the right oils.

Oil therapy is a huge part of the Coily Queens Regimen. Daily you read about the amazing benefits of using various oils for hair care. Five different oils will have some of the same benefits. There are many oils which help with hair growth. So how do you know what oils are best for you to use in your regimen? Oil therapy helps you to figure that out.

Never use oils derived from a food you are allergic to. Just because you are allergic to eating almonds does not necessarily mean you will get a reaction from almond oil. However that is not a chance to take, especially if your allergies are severe. Consult your doctor first.

How do you know which oil is the best to use?

You must choose the oil which heals your hair needs. Knowing the best oils for your hair issue can be very difficult for people to figure out. How would you like your own personal growth oil therapy formula? An oil blend which is specific to your hair.

Along with a special hair growth regimen, you will receive your own customized growth oil therapy formula. This is part of the package you get, when you participate in the "Double your hair growth challenge" aka the "Gain an inch in 30 days" hair growth challenge.

Each formula is customized!

Correcting crown breakage and dryness

Lots of black women have a issue with breakage in the crown area. Many complain that their crown area is extra dry, hard and shorter than the rest of their hair. They experience extra tangles and knots in the crown area. Most women have had this issue all of their lives, along with other females in their family. If your crown is not bald, this issue can be corrected. The hair on your crown can be just as healthy as the rest of your hair, just by making a few changes to your hair regimen.

TWO MAIN REASONS YOUR CROWN IS BRITTLE AND BROKEN

1. Lack of moisture
As your hair follicles secrete sebum, that sebum travels down the hair strands. When one does not produce enough certain areas can go lacking. Sebum is what lubricates your hair strands. The sebum usually settles at the lower part of our neck. You will notice many times that the curl pattern of our lower back hair  is a loser softer texture than the rest of our hair. This is due in part to the sebum settling at the base of your neck, giving that hair extra conditioning. However this also  leaves your crown area lacking sebum.  Usually this issue can be easily corrected within 30 days.

HOW TO CORRECT THE LACK OF MOISTURE IN YOUR CROWN AREA

  • Be sure to cleanse hair twice a week or no less than once a week
  • Apply extra moisturizer to the crown or dry areas
  • Treat area with an organic apple cider vinegar treatment
  • Seal moisture into your hair, using one of these products: castor oil, jojoba oil, red palm oil or hemp grease.
  • Baggy overnight, 3 times a week

2. Damage under the scalp from  relaxers, hair dye or heat tools
A large portion of women who have relaxed their hair, have scar tissue under the scalp. In most cases you do not know until your scalp starts to give you trouble.  It affects most women in the crown but it can occur anywhere on the scalp. The affected areas tends to be sore, red, itchy, thin or irritated. These symptoms can exists for years before the hair starts to fallout. The hair loss usually starts  with a dime size bald spot. The bald area will become larger, if left untreated.

If you suspect the above is your issue, you must see a dermatologist asap. Ask the doctor for a scalp biopsy. You need to know what is going on under the scalp. The quicker you seek treatment the more likely you can slow the progression of the hair loss or reverse it.

PREVENTING CROWN BREAKAGE

  • Feed that area moisture everyday, even if the rest of your head does not need it. Remain conscious of your problem areas.
  • Get a aphogee 2 step protein treatment once every 4 to 6 weeks.
  • You can spot treat with protein treatments. Meaning you can choose to just protein treat your crown area only, if you feel the rest of your hair is not breaking a lot.
  • Never lay down without a satin scarf or bonnet.
  • Use both a satin bonnet and a satin pillow case. (works amazingly)
  • Do not wear ponytails or apply pulling in that area.
  • Do not use a brush in that area (fingercombing is best)

Keeping your natural hair moisturized

Once you cleanse, condition and hydrate your hair, you must lock that moisture into your hair. The goal is to keep your hair luxurious and soft for at least 3 days, before you need to apply more product. The best way to keep the moisture from escaping your hair so quickly is to use a sealant product.

---SEALANT
A oil or butter that is applied on top of your moisturizer. This oil or butter helps the hair hold water for longer periods. A sealant or sealer is the last product you apply to the hair. On top of locking in moisture it should also give your hair a nice sheen.

In order for the sealant to work, you must already have moisture in your hair. That moisture must come from water. Choose a moisturizer, water based leave in conditioner or plain water, then seal in that moisture with a sealant product.

THE TOP 5 PRODUCTS FOR SEALING IN MOISTURE

1. Kuza Indian Hemp Scalp Treatment
This is a grease and it softens and seals in moisture extremely well.

Quick easy sealing:
This can be done when you want less shrinkage and more body to your twist outs. After you shampoo and deep condition. You skip the leave in and other style products. You take advantage of the soaking wet hair. In this case the water alone is your leave in. You seal that water into your hair by using either an oil, butter or grease. Style hair as usual.

This works great as a style refresher between shampoos

  • Lightly mist hair with water
  • Smooth on shea butter or jojoba oil
